Tofino, what a place. We booked into the HI hostel right on the water front with a stunning view overlooking a winding network of inlets and scattered wilderness islands. Upon arrival we were presented with a bewildering array of different things to do ranging from whale watching to surfing. We ended up riding hire bikes along the beaches, going on a guided kayaking tour of some of the closer islands and taking a boat trip to some remote hot springs. One of the highlights of my time in Tofino however, was a beach fire we had one evening. After telling a few people in the hostel of our plans, we headed to a nearby bay to set up a small fire. Within the next couple of hours we had another 30 or so people join us from 8 different countries. It was weird to think we all came together that night for only a few hours and then all parted company perhaps never to see each other again. This is what I love about traveling, cosmic experiences.
